World Routes 2016: Lufthansa Consulting sees a run for long-haul connections to China

China and its vastly increasing long-range network will be a focus topic of Lufthansa Consulting’s delegation at the upcoming World Route Development Forum in Chengdu/China, 24 – 27 September 2016. The company's Associate Partners Dr. Andreas Kraus and Panagiotis Poligenis as well as Senior Consultant Qian Chen welcome visitors to exhibition stand PS303 and look forward to discussing their targeted approaches and competitive solutions with representatives of the aviation industry.  

“We see tremendous interest from airports worldwide in attracting new long-range connections with China. New airline players in China, but also traditional intercontinental carriers are being targeted to evaluate this current window of opportunity”, reports Dr. Andreas Kraus, Associate Partner heading Lufthansa Consulting’s European market activities. “We observe that innovative airports’ business development activities are steered by comprehensive revenue objectives and especially European airports are thrilled by the pre-departure retail spending of Chinese visitors” adds Kraus. 

Nevertheless, numerous challenges need to be overcome to successfully launch connections with China: “Traffic rights, slot issues, overflight regulations, but also the points-of-sale imbalance and an underdeveloped international market presence of new Chinese long-haul carriers need to be tackled in a co-operative and professional way”, states Panagiotis Poligenis, Associate Partner in charge of Lufthansa Consulting’s Asian market

During the event the management consultants will give an overview of their full range of competences, products and services. They will share their proven expertise especially focused on airline and airport topics but also on issues in the fields of logistics, infrastructure and in industry-related areas.

Best of Consulting

Lufthansa Consulting has been awarded the coveted consultancy prize "Best of Consulting 2018" by the German weekly business news magazine WirtschaftsWoche. The aviation consultants took part in this competition for the first time and achieved their goal straight away with first place in the category “Competitive Strategy”. The award went to a project which was successfully completed with Czech Airlines (CSA), the national airline of the Czech Republic. Lufthansa Consulting and CSA jointly developed an ancillary revenue strategy and a branded fares concept. The implementation of the overall project resulted in a significant increase in ancillary revenues and thus in a positive operating profit for Czech Airlines.
