Lufthansa Consulting supports Kazakhstan’s new regional airline Qazaq Air

Lufthansa Consulting helped to prepare the launch of the new regional passenger carrier Qazaq Air, founded by JSC Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna, Astana, Kazakhstan. Samruk-Kazyna had contracted the internationally recognized aviation experts in order to validate, update, and expand the business plan of Qazaq Air. The project was already successfully completed.

By area, Kazakhstan is the ninth largest territory of the world. Socio-economic growth is only possible through effective collaboration with the regions. Therefore, Qazaq Air will focus on intra-regional flights to develop air traffic between the regions and will operate mostly medium-range flights. The carrier will offer flights between Shymkent, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar and Aktobe and will also introduce new routes from the cities of Astana and Almaty to the Balkhash Karaganda region. The new airline will mainly operate Canadian Bombardier Q400 aircraft with a capacity of up to 78 seats.

Lufthansa Consulting developed a financial plan, a five-year fleet plan, a network model and Qazaq Air’s organizational structure according to international and national requirements. In addition, the consultancy conducted a comprehensive market potential analysis and defined a selection of optimal alternatives among several scenarios.
