The core focus of Lufthansa Consulting’s strategy department is to provide carriers or investors with a clearly defined road map based on a comprehensive understanding of market drivers whether they are competitive, geopolitical or other influencing factors.


The strategy department has over twenty years of vast experience around the world having worked on over 50 projects directly focused on topics including start-ups, strategic realignments and due diligence.


Our experience has shown that several key issues are often raised, which generally are not prioritized enough:

  • Do you want to better understand your current operating environment particularly the  existing air travel demand or intermodal competition through substitutes such as rail, car or even ferry?
  • Have you thought of setting up a subsidiary operation to enhance your current business portfolio or to use as a tool to fend off competition especially from the likes of low cost carriers?

For example, today we have four start-up carriers that are currently in full swing and have two more in process. We are also repositioning a multibillion dollar Middle Eastern carrier and have a team of over 50 people supporting on-site.
