Project description |
Since 2007 about 250,000 tons of cargo have been handled at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The Southern Airport Authority Vietnam decided to form a joint venture with the Vietnamese military and private companies establishing the new company Saigon Cargo Service Corporation SCSC and to invest in a new state-of-the-art cargo terminal to be developed in stages according to market needs. The tasks included the conceptual layout and design of the allocated area for the new SCSC cargo terminal and its related infrastructure. Based on capacity calculations, layout proposals for an efficient Material Handling System (MHS) were developed, which finally led to a detailed terminal design. Currently Lufthansa Con-sulting is supporting SCSC in the review of the basic and detailed design phase of the MHS and will further be in charge of the systems implementation. SCSC plans that the new cargo terminal to be operational by mid-2010. |
