Project description |
In the context of a significant increase of competition amongst the Moscow airports, Vnukovo Airport has decided to evaluate future business development opportunities and to define a program to enhance its market position by attracting international airlines and air services. The Air Service Development Program for Vnukovo Airport created by Lufthansa Consulting will influence the airport’s integration into the worldwide air services network by a proactive air service development and airline marketing strategy. The main aspects in the concept development include the determination of Vnukovo’s mid and long-term Market Positioning Strategy, the decision for a feasible Traffic Development Concept as well as the initiation of a basic Marketing Action Plan to implement the selected concept effectively. An initial project success was accomplished through the commencement of operations by Germanwings in summer 2005 from Berlin and Cologne to Vnukovo Airport. This was the first West-European airline to decide to operate a scheduled service to this Moscow airport. |
