Lufthansa Consulting Airport Economics Team offered the following Phases to Airports International: 

  • Phase 1. Review of existing documents (traffic forecast, strategy, CAPEX )
  • Phase 2. Elaboration of Business Plans in AI Airport Portfolio

  • Review of existing macro and microeconomic figures (Country-wide and local economy; local GDP, Unemployment rate, FDI)
  • Review of aviation development in the countries and on a regional level
  • Review of existing forecast model
  • Review of air traffic forecast (movement, passengers and cargo)
  • Review of investment requirements (adjust, delay, cancel)
  • Review of calculation and methods
  • Review of Return on Investment and applied modelling
  • Review of aeronautical charges (if required) (Phase 1)
  • The business plans for the four airports (Parma (PMF), Lake Baikal (UUD), Bydgoszcz (BZG) and Sochaczew) were updated during the seven week consulting work
  • The main sources for the business plan updates were newly defined traffic forecast, strategy development, investment needs (CAPEX)
  • Finally based on interviews with local management, input of various experts from banking industries and the intellectual capital of Lufthansa Consulting all business plans were updated (Phase 2)

Project description

Airport International assigned Lufthansa Consulting to review and update the existing business plans for the airport portfolio. Four airports were covered (Parma (PMF), Lake Baikal (UUD), Bydgoszcz (BZG) and Sochaczew.
The final aim of the project was to offer an overview of the cost savings and revenue enhancement opportunities through increasing the operational effectiveness at these airports.
Lufthansa Consulting delivered a significant added value to its client during the project phases.
