- Each airline/route business case that leads to a route study is initiated by a joint kick-off meeting to identify individual carrier decision making criteria and thus to set-up a customized analysis
- The route study includes:
- Pre-study data mining and data set-up for the individual carrier
- Route demand modeling based on different schedule scenarios
- Integration of individual carrier preferences (Business models) and decision making criteria
- Elaboration of all results in a presentation format
- Each route study is finalized in a joint hand-over meeting which includes the briefing of the airport marketing managers
- Ongoing follow-up discussions with the marketing managers regarding the selection of suitable airline/route business cases as well as about respective market entry barriers for Cologne/Bonn airport

Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN) is one of the most dynamically developing airports in Europe. A next major step in its strategy development after achieving the status Central Europe’s no. 1 Low Cost Airport in terms of passengers handled is to establish scheduled passenger long-haul services to/from Cologne/Bonn. Lufthansa Consulting was hired to support the airport’s air service development activities on a long-term basis to achieve this target. Supporting the airport’s marketing department by the elaboration of customized detailed route studies for individual airlines in different geographical markets and market environments |
