Mirja Nissen


Ms. Mirja Nissen is Director Sales Americas at Lufthansa Consulting. In this position she acts as the sales and marketing manager for all Lufthansa Consulting service units such as passenger airlines, cargo airlines, airports and ground operations in the Americas. She is responsible for the coordination and development of the Lufthansa Consulting network in the Americas and plays a major part within the proposal coordination process.

Specialist area

Having started to work for Lufthansa Cargo in the position of regional performance coordinator for Midwest USA and Canada, she is not only well experienced when it comes to quality and training matters, but has an extensive knowledge of the cargo handling side, which she primarily gained during her 2 year work experience as a manager on duty at one of Lufthansa Cargo’s largest freighter hubs, Chicago.
Her work duties incorporated managing a warehouse as well as the office operation, which required her to lead and develop people while observing international cargo handling standards.
Leaving the operational field and joining Lufthansa Cargo Charter as the Sales Manager for the Americas she has gained an inside view of the work of an air cargo charter broker, who is the intermediary between different forwarders and operators. This not only gave her the chance to intensify her sales skills, but also get a good understanding of the US airfreight market.

Outside the office

Mirja Nissen loves to travel and learn languages and therefore she spends most of her free time and vacation outside the country visiting language schools, sight seeing and making friends around the world. At the same time she is a workout fanatic, who has to hit the gym every day. Within the last 3 years she has completed 7 marathons and is planning to do more, maybe even an ultra marathon. In addition she is working on her spinning certification.
