Mexico City International Airport (AICM) is saturated. The Federal Government decided to build a greenfield airport 40 km to the east (Texcoco) that would replace the actual airport. After some social pressure the government decided to cancel Texcoco, facing the problem of the saturation at AICM. Therefore, the Airport of Toluca (50 km to the west) becomes a very attractive alternative to alleviate AICM. |

Project description |
Lufthansa Consulting has been hired to perform the required studies to further develop Toluca International Airport (TLC) as both passenger and cargo airport. The challenge became larger after the decision of the cancellation of the Texcoco project which would substitute Mexico City International Airport (AICM), since TLC could be a solution to alleviate the problems at AICM. The goal will be to attract traffic to TLC, but the lack of time is the main issue. |
