The central department for ULD handling at Lufthansa Cargo is responsible for the on schedule supply of empty ULDs and loading material at all stations worldwide. They are responsible for one important success factor for the Lufthansa Cargo business. In 2001 they engaged Lufthansa Consulting to reduce costs and processing times while increasing service quality and inventory transparency in their ULD handling processes. Lufthansa Consulting analyzed and optimized the processes relevant to ULD and loading material handling, storage and dispatch. The experts of Lufthansa Consulting developed a concept for the handling of ULDs and loading material at the central hub in Frankfurt. This concept included the development of a logistics concept for the central storage facilities. |
