Lufthansa Shared Services International – now in a new constellation

Optimising processes, creating synergies and reducing costs are strategic business considerations at all times, not only in a crisis. In a move to attain these targets, the Lufthansa areas “External Accounting/Commercial Central Functions” and “Accounting & Service Centre External Organisation” were restructured within the framework of the “Shared Services International” concept in April 2009.

The resulting new units “Global Accounting Services” and “International Business Services” with c.1200 employees in Germany and abroad will now work together more closely and provide administrative services, primarily to the Lufthansa Group.

Lufthansa Consulting was commissioned to provide the new department with the necessary communication tools to adapt to the changes in structure and the challenges.

The assignment and tasks of Lufthansa Consulting included:

  • Preparing a management communication concept,
  • Developing an area presentation for internal and external sales activities,
  • Transposing the new SSI values into a key visual,
  • Adapting the forms and standard working materials for the new organisation.

Mr Martin Steuernagel, Head of Global Accounting Services: “I value the cooperation with our Group consultants, because their understanding of Lufthansa and their aviation expertise complemented our project perfectly”.
