Kenya Airways plans new Operations Control Center and Hub Control Center

Kenya Airways’ (KQ) top management has decided to be a leader in the African aviation industry. The carrier is not only keen to be the first airline in Africa to obtain IOSA certification but is also striving for operational excellence with state-of-the-art processes, communications, tools and IT so that it will be able to tackle irregularities and operational bottlenecks faster and more efficiently. At the same time the target is to raise customer satisfaction by providing better connectivity of passengers and baggage.

Lufthansa Consulting has already supported Kenya Airways in defining an action plan to enhance the carrier’s Operations Control Center (OCC). The airline has immediately begun implementing the measures and will have a state-of-the-art OCC infrastructure launched by September 2008.

In addition, KQ has recently extended the contract with Lufthansa Consulting and asked the consultants to define an HCC Hub Control Center concept, which should be integrated smoothly into the OCC implementation process. KQ is keen to establish an OCC and HCC simultaneously. Lufthansa Consulting is therefore assisting Kenya Airways throughout the implementation of the OCC measures, the mapping and setting up of the new communication flows, etc.

Thanks to the previous very fruitful partnership with LCG, virtually the same expert team which successfully cooperated with Kenya Airways in the first project phase is now working on the HCC concept and continuing the successful collaboration.
