IOSA Consulting at Vladivostok Air

One of Lufthansa Consulting´s current clients for “IOSA Consulting” is the Russian airline Vladivostok Air. Lufthansa Consulting’s professional support aims to enable the airline to pass the IOSA audit in the final quarter of 2008. The team of consultants consists of four experts who liaise closely with the client’s dedicated working groups to close the findings in the eight IOSA areas.

Vladivostok Air is the largest air carrier in Russia's Far East with more than 700,000 passengers annually and a fleet of 50 aircraft. The carrier offers scheduled flights to 24 domestic and 13 international destinations as well as charter flights for corporate travel and individual travellers. In the 2008 summer schedule, Vladivostok Air will include new destinations, amongst others also Frankfurt-Hahn. Since 2004, Vladivostok Air has been a member of IATA.

The idea behind the Operational Safety Audit IOSA

The IATA Operational Safety Audit IOSA is an internationally accepted audit system for evaluating an airline’s operational processes and management systems. The audit uses internationally recognized quality management principles and was designed to optimize operational processes and standardize audits so that they are comparable on a worldwide basis, thus enabling mutually interested airlines and regulators to accept audit reports.

IOSA Preparation Visits (IPVs) and recurrent audits can only be conducted by IATA accredited organizations. In order to be fully prepared to meet all audit requirements, airlines are well advised to seek professional assistance from an aviation expert. Lufthansa Consulting is specialized in supporting airlines before and after IOSA Preparation Visits and main IOSA audits, as well as recurrent audits.

Lufthansa Consulting’s assistance also covers the active development of an activity plan addressing identified or potential non-conformity with the IOSA Standards and Recommended Practices (ISARPs) and also provides hands-on expertise in tackling corrective actions.

Based on Lufthansa’s own airline experience and recent IOSA audits, Lufthansa Consulting’s team is committed to the need and the importance of setting priorities in the IOSA certification and implementation process.

Using general ICAO auditing and flight safety methodology as well as IOSA methodology and structure as a guideline, the Lufthansa Consulting experts help airlines to overcome deficiencies and shortcomings in order to meet IOSA standards and prepare for the official IOSA audit in 2008.
