From a small Lufthansa profit center to an independent consulting companyThis year, Lufthansa Consulting (LCG) is celebrating its 20th anniversary as an independent company within the Lufthansa Group. The management consultancy firm offers services to airlines, airports, aviation authorities and sector-related industries and institutions throughout the world and has successfully concluded more than 1,500 projects. Lufthansa Consulting was founded as a limited company (GmbH) in 1988 in response to the growing need for consultancy services in the aviation industry. Its portfolio of consultancy services has always been geared to the specific requirements of the aviation market, and has been continuously expanded and enhanced in order to remain ahead of developments. In the early days the focus was directed towards government-associated, politically - motivated projects, frequently in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development as well as the GTZ Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit. LCG currently concentrates on management consulting and encompasses nearly all areas of specialist expertise in commercial aviation such as Airline Strategy and Restructuring, Operations and Maintenance as well as Air Cargo and Airports consulting. Above all, Lufthansa Consulting sets itself apart from its competitors because it supports the customer during implementation of the solutions worked out during the projects. In the areas restructuring and privatization, the company succeeded in establishing itself as a market leader at the end of the 90s. Major projects were successfully completed for clients such as Garuda, Philippine Airlines and Mexicana. Today, the company has almost 100 employees from 18 countries and in addition to the headquarters in Cologne, it has branch offices in Frankfurt as well as offices in Moscow, Dubai, Singapore and Miami. |
