Consultancy services for the start-up of new cargo airline Flyington FreightersLufthansa Consulting (LCG) has recently completed the first phase of a long term contract with the Indian start up carrier Flyington Freighters. LCG has been assigned to support the new cargo airline in its start-up activities. The project began in April 2007 and will continue throughout the year 2008 and beyond.
Flyington Freighters will be the first international all-cargo carrier operating out of India. It is the launch customer of the Airbus A330-200F model and currently has 12 freighters on firm order, which are due for delivery by the end of 2009. The company will offer a competitive air cargo service network with point to point air cargo transportation aiming at international forwarders as the main target customers.
The consulting mandate was for Lufthansa Consulting to apply the vast experience from all areas of the cargo aviation industry to provide comprehensive support in establishing all relevant fields for the new airline. In close cooperation with the client, LCG created the business model, prepared the cargo strategy and positioned the new carrier in the market. Furthermore, the consultancy advised Flyington Freighters in the application process with IATA, the setup of the entire organisation with a focus on outsourcing possibilities. Special attention was given to the selection process of service providers for sales, handling and IT.
