SonAir Serviço Aéreo SA, a subsidiary of the Angolan national oil company Sonangol, and Lufthansa Consulting (LCG) have recently signed a contract on consulting services for the enhancement of the company’s safety and quality standards as well as for their strategic reorientation.

LCG will support SonAir in improving its business performance in order to qualify and obtain the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate. The consulting mandate also aims to increase SonAir's efficiency by applying modern management methods and world-class aviation service levels.

In close cooperation with Lufthansa Consulting SonAir will also conduct a realignment of its corporate business strategy which enables the airline to successfully expand its services both in Angola and internationally and to represent Angolan aviation with the highest standards in the region and also beyond Africa.

 “At a relevant stage such as the present one, in which our country is enjoying outstanding and rapid economic growth, it is imperative that the service levels and operational standards of SonAir, equal or exceed those presently demanded by the complexity of both the aviation and oil industry markets”, António Dos Santos Domingos, Chairman and CEO of SonAir, pointed out during the contract signing ceremony in Frankfurt/Germany.

The project starts in September 2007 with enhancing SonAir’s operations to excellence, the IOSA certification is targeted to be obtained by mid 2008.

SonAir mainly provides aviation services (airplane & helicopter) in support of the oil business activities in Angola and Corporate Aviation. The carrier operates domestic passenger services as well as charter flights, cargo and courier services.
